Are you looking to save money on electricity bills? Do you know that old versions of heat exchangers add so much to your household expenses? These devices are used in many of your household appliances including your refrigerators, air conditioners, space heaters, and water heaters. Some of these devices are left on all day, so they eat so much electricity in the process.

In the past, my electricity bill was so high that most of the money I earned as a high school teacher was used to pay for that expense. I tried to lower my energy use by unplugging all of my electrical appliances when I wasn't using them and reducing the time I spent watching television or using my personal computer. Still, there was no significant decrease.

I then did research on how I could solve this problem in various websites and forums online. This was when I discovered what a 'heat exchanger' was and how this device-- present in most household appliances-- contributed to my high electricity bills. I continued researching on the device and realized that there are three kinds of heat exchangers: (1) air-cooled, (2) shell and tube, and (3) plate heat exchangers.

The advantage of using the air-cooled exchanger lies in its ability to operate without water. However, this has resulted in its increased size and need for energy. Meanwhile, the shell and tube exchanger is more suited for high-powered machines such as power plant turbines. It consumes too much power, making it inefficient to use for smaller appliances.

Unfortunately, these two devices are still being used for numerous household appliances in homes all across America.
